The rules for those starting in 2025/26 are:

Eligibility

• Studying on the Foundation Diploma Art and Design in 2025/26
• Aged 19 or over on the first day of the course
• Living in the UK on the first day of the course
• Have been living in the UK, British overseas territories, the Channel Islands or the Isle of Man
• UK national or Irish citizen or have ‘settled status’ (no restrictions on how long you can stay in the UK)

EU or EEA nationals

You may also be eligible if:

• you are a UK national that has been living outside of the UK, or
• are an EU national or family member of an EU national, or
• have different residency status in the UK.

Apply

Before applying you must have an offer of a place on the Foundation Diploma in Art and Design.

1. In May you will receive a Learning and Funding Information Letter from the Further Education Office which you need for the application.
2. Make sure you apply for the correct type of Loan - you need to apply for funding for a Further Education (FE) course which is the Advanced Learner Loan.
3. If successful, you'll receive a letter from Student Finance England confirming that your loan has been approved.
4. Enrol online and upload your loan confirmation letter from Student Finance England.
5. Your tuition fees will be paid directly to the University by Student Finance England.
