London Street Style Fashion Subcultural Icons Short Course

Course description

Go immersive into London's fashion subcultures, meet club owners and artists in their worlds. An unconventional, interdisciplinary approach from theory to hands-on clothing analysis workshops, project workshops and visits by creatives of street style subcultures. This course will be as unconventional as its topic.

This course will give you skills to create a subversive portfolio representing your personal tastes and identity as a fashion designer in 2D - 3D design.

Course outcomes
By the end of this course you will:

  • Create a portfolio to fashion industry standards and learn how to make applications of your work across the creative industries.
  • Build a unique London based resource book to return to as a road map in developing your creativity and career.
  • Gain value in knowledge of all aspects of subcultures through lived experiences such as music and art.
  • Be introduced to academic theories on subcultures and how to apply theory in your work.
  • Develop hands-on skills for working with archival Punk clothing and textiles from the Fashion and Textiles Education archive resource.
  • Learn methods and practices for designing in 2D to 3D

Who should attend London Street Style Fashion Subcultural Icons short course?

  • This course is suitable for beginners and particularly students of fashion, fashion designers, fashion archivists, costume designers and textile designers.

Please note: this course is for students aged 18 and older
